1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use OR Count:

• Account information: Your email address and name when you register, or your Apple ID when you sign in with Apple.
• Case data: Surgical case records you create, including instrument counts and procedure types. This data is stored locally on your device.
• Photos: Images of instrument trays that you photograph within the app. These images are sent to our server and to Anthropic's AI service for analysis, then discarded — we do not store your photos.
• Usage data: The number of cases you have created, used to enforce free and Pro plan limits.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide instrument counting and discrepancy detection features.
• To manage your account and subscription status.
• To enforce usage limits on free and Pro plans.
• To authenticate you securely across devices.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the OR Count service.

3. AI Image Analysis

When you photograph an instrument tray, the image is sent to our secure backend server, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude AI for analysis. Anthropic processes the image to identify and count surgical instruments.

Images are transmitted securely over HTTPS and are not retained by OR Count or Anthropic beyond the time needed to generate the instrument count. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.

4. Data Storage and Security

• Your account credentials are stored securely on our server. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard encryption — we cannot read your password.
• Your authentication token is stored in your device's secure encrypted storage.
• Case records are stored locally on your device using your device's built-in storage.
• All data transmitted between the app and our server is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

• Anthropic: Instrument tray images are sent to Anthropic solely to provide the AI counting feature.
• Apple: If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple handles authentication and shares only the information you authorize.
• RevenueCat: If you subscribe to Pro, your subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law.

6. Data Retention

Your account information is retained for as long as your account is active. Case records are stored on your device and can be deleted by you at any time within the app. If you delete your account, your account data is removed from our servers within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

OR Count is intended for use by healthcare professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Export your data in a portable format.
